BOBBY HORNSBY, REAL ESTATE BROKER & OWNER
Bobby Hornsby grew up in Williamsburg, Virginia. After secondary school at the Daycroft School in Greenwich, Connecticut, he graduated from the University of Virginia, Class of 1975.
In 1976, Bobby Hornsby began working with the family real estate firm, Heritage Realty Co., while playing electric bass in his brother's band, the "Bruce Hornsby Band". Real Estate was a good source of funds during the years that the band was struggling for a break into the big time.
In 1980, Bobby's wife Ann Hornsby, former singer and percussionist in the "Bruce Hornsby Band", gave birth to their son, R. S. Hornsby, Jr..
Bobby Hornsby then left the band to pursue a career in Real Estate and raise his family in Williamsburg. In 1982, daughter Susannah Bruce Hornsby was born.
Bobby changed the company name to Hornsby Real Estate Co., and the success of the business and family flourished.
In 1986, Bruce Hornsby and the Range won the Grammy Award for best new artist, and Bobby started Hornsby Construction Co., building custom homes in the Hornsby family development Windsor Forest.
In 1988 Bobby built the new Hornsby Real Estate Offices as the first building in his Williamsburg Business Center, and soon won Awards for the excellent design and landscaping.
In 1990, Bobby Hornsby completed the construction of a superb custom home and state-of-the-art recording studio for brother Bruce and his wife Kathy, which made it possible for Bruce's albums to be recorded at home in Williamsburg.
Bobby has been very active with the Williamsburg Area Association of Realtors, serving as President in 1983 and 1991.
In 1992 Bobby was named Realtor of the Year for the Williamsburg area.
In 1998 Bobby Hornsby was honored by the Williamsburg Area Association of Realtors with the Lifetime Achievement Award.
In 1999, the sixth building of the Williamsburg Business Center was completed, providing a total of 22 office suites.
